On the shore of Lac L'Estérel, a house with high ceilings, all-wood construction and windows that flood every room with light. The owners wanted a dining table that belonged in it: bespoke, high-end, and made of wood.

Through many conversations we captured the details of their vision. The result became the L'Estérel table, now part of our catalogue, and it started here.

The Table

Three C-shaped bases in solid walnut

The table sits on three C-shaped bases. Two are embedded together on one side; the third stands alone on the other, which gives the piece its balance. The top is a barrel shape with tapered edges.

The bases were the hard part. Rather than veneer, we cut several planks of real walnut into the C shape, then stacked and glued them. The non-continuous planks produce an effect that is difficult to make and beautiful once done.

The Chairs

H-Chairs in walnut and green velvet

Around the table, twelve H-Chairs in the same walnut, upholstered in green velvet. The H frame carries a generous seat; the velvet adds the warmth the room asked for.

Timed for the holidays

Installation was completed days before Christmas, in time for the family's celebrations. With twelve seats, the dining room now hosts the large gatherings the house was built for.
