Every ref. table begins as a set of decisions, and every one of them is yours. The length, the shape, the thickness, the edge your hand rests on, the colour, even how it grows when the whole family shows up. These are not special requests. They are simply how we work.
Nothing is locked in at checkout. After you order, a member of our team confirms every detail with you, and you approve technical drawings before we start production.
Fit the table to your room, down to the inch.
You do not have to choose from our sizes. Our listed lengths are starting points; if the right table for your room is 87 by 39 inches, that is exactly what we will build. Here is how to find your number.
Count your people. Start with the number who sit down on a normal night, then the number you host on the big ones. Each person needs about 24 inches of table edge to eat without bumping elbows, assuming a standard dining chair around 20 inches wide. Wider or armed chairs need more; the calculator on the right does the math for your exact chairs.
Measure the room. A dining chair needs about 36 inches between the table edge and the nearest wall or furniture, enough to pull out and sit down without gymnastics. If people walk behind the chairs while others are seated, give that side 48 inches.
Do the subtraction. Room length minus 72 inches of clearance gives your maximum table length. Room width minus 72 inches gives your maximum table width. Anything under those numbers will live comfortably.
Pick width and height. Most dining tables run 36 to 44 inches wide. From 38 inches up, there is room for shared platters down the middle while everyone still has a full place setting. Standard height is 30 inches, and we build counter height or anything in between on request.

How much presence do you want?
Thickness is character. A slab of around two inches reads substantial and grounded, the kind of table you notice from the doorway. A slimmer top, closer to one inch, reads light and tailored, and lets the base do the talking.
Whatever you choose, every top is reinforced underneath to stay flat for decades. Depending on the thickness, that hidden structure is steel or solid wood; each table gets the one that suits it best.

The finish itself: 3% matte polyurethane
Every table is sealed with a 3 percent matte polyurethane. The number is the sheen: at 3 percent, the surface has almost no shine at all, so the wood looks and feels natural, as if it were barely finished. Underneath that quiet look is a tough protective layer that stands up to spills, glasses and everyday family life, and wipes clean with a damp cloth.
Colour match service
Have a floor, a cabinet or a colour you love? For a fee, we tune a custom stain to a physical sample or reference you send us, and you approve the match on a real wood sample before we finish your table.
Built to grow when the family does.
Most of our tables can be built to extend. The everyday table stays right-sized for your room, and the holiday table appears when you need it.
Add-in end leaves
One or two leaves slot onto the ends of the table. A 72 inch table with two 18 inch leaves becomes 108 inches: six seats on a Tuesday, ten at Thanksgiving. The leaves store away when they are not needed, and each one is finished with the same care as the top.
Centre-opening leaf
The table opens at the middle on smooth rails and a leaf drops in, so the base never moves and the weight stays balanced. We match the grain and colour so closely that guests rarely spot the seam.
Other possibilities
